MorioDans le cadre du projet scientifique Capes-Cofecub Me1080/25 (Brésil-France), la Dr. Rose-Anne Lavergne et le Prof. Florent Morio se rendent au Brésil du 27 novembre au 6 décembre 2025.
Ils iront d'abord à Belo Horizonte - Minas Gerais puis à Botucatu Campus, São Paulo.
Ils délivreront 2 conférences lors du Brazilian Network Meeting: Aspergillus fumigatus Antifungal Resistance – Protecting Health in the Face of Agricultural Pressures (du 3 au 5/12/25 à UNESP Botucatu Campus, São Paulo, Brazil) sur les sujets "Clinical cases of Aspergillus fumigatus in France and adopting a One Health approach" (Dr. R.-A. Lavergne) et "The Candida parapsilosis case – antifungal resistance under One Health. Brazilian network meeting for antifungal resistance in Aspergillus fumigatus: protecting health in the face of agricultural pressures.

Celebrating 10 years of scientific collaboration and cultural exchange within the Capes-Cofecub program!We were delighted to take part in the REC’n’Play event in Recife, Brazil (https://recnplay.pe/), contributing to a rich roundtable discussion on innovation in healthcare, exploring new opportunities and perspectives for partnerships between Brazil and France.

It was also a great pleasure to share our latest research results on Leishmania CK1 inhibitors (Prof. Pascal Marchand), but also Candida auris (Dr. Isabelle Ourliac-Garnier) during a seminar of the Postgraduate Program in Therapeutic Innovation (PPGIT) at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, thanks to the kind invitation of Prof. Teresinha Silva and Prof. Moacyr Jesus Barreto de Melo Rêgo.

MarchandDans le cadre du projet scientifique Capes-Cofecub Me1009/23 (Brésil-France), la Dr. Isabelle Ourliac-Garnier et le Prof. Pascal Marchand se rendent au Brésil du 15 au 25 octobre 2025.
A l'invitation de la chargée de mission coopération scientifique à l’ambassade de France à Brasilia et du directeur du SECTI (Secretaria de Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação do Estado de Pernambuc) à Recife, ils participeront au festival Rec'N'Play (https://recnplay.pe/, 15-18 octobre 2025), dédié à l'innovation par la mise en place d'un espace France et qui permet de présenter des projets/expositions/conférences.
La mobilité s’effectuera en 2 temps :
D’abord à Recife-Pernambouc (15-19 octobre) avec le festival Rec'N'Play et aussi une présentation devant les doctorants, postdoctorants et chercheurs brésiliens de l’ED « Innovation Thérapeutique » à L’université Fédéral de Pernambuco (UFPE)

Welcome to Naka Kadri and Letizia FrongiaWe are pleased to welcome back Nakã Kadri from the Faculty of Science at the université de Sfax - University of Sfax (USS) - Tunisie (Prof. houcine Houcine_Fss Ammar), to the IICiMed Lab! She will be spending six months at Nantes Université working on an exciting project dedicated to developing new heterocyclic compounds as anti-infective agents.
We are also excited to welcome Letizia Frongia from the Università degli Studi di Cagliari, Sardinia - Italy, to our lab! She is joining us for a 3-month Erasmus+ Master’s internship in medicinal chemistry, working on the development of Leishmania casein kinase 1 inhibitors with potential antiparasitic applications. Many thanks to Prof. Elias Maccioni and the Paul Ehrlich MedChem Euro-PhD Network for making this collaboration possible.

Accueil Halana Lima de Oliveira (UFPE, Brésil)Le Prof. Patrice Le Pape a le plaisir d'annoncer l’arrivée de Halana LIMA DE OLIVEIRA pour une période de 9 mois au Laboratoire. Halana est doctorante à l’Université Fédérale de Pernambuco (UFPE) – Recife, Brésil dans le service de Mycologie Médicale du Prof. Reginaldo Goncalves de Lima.
Halana va participer au projet ANR Aspergillus One Health sur le volet fitness. Elle profitera de cette formation pour inclure dans ses expérimentations Sporothrix sp. son pathogène d’élection.

Accueil Aura Lucia Chacon Parra (UFC, Brésil)Nous avons le plaisir d’accueillir au Laboratoire Aura Lucia Chacon Parra (Universidad Nacional de Colombia – UNAL), actuellement doctorante au sein de l’équipe du Pr Deborah Castelo-Branco (Universidade Federal do Ceará, Fortaleza, Brésil) avec laquelle nous entretenons une collaboration sur l'impact des composés agrochimiques sur la résistance des levures.
Son séjour, du 11 septembre 2025 au 31 mars 2026 est rendu possible grâce à l’obtention par Lucia d’une bourse fédérale d’étude du CNPq.

Welcome to collaborators from Ireland and BrazilWe are honoured to welcome Assoc. Prof. Florence McCarthy from University College Cork Ireland to the IICiMed Lab for one month, and to announce that he has been awarded the 2025 France Excellence Research Residency grant.
Brazilian collaborators from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, Recife - Prof. Teresinha Silva, and from Universidade Federal de Alagoas, Maceio - Prof. Thiago Aquino, are also visiting us as part of the CAPES-COFECUB programme.
This is an excellent opportunity to meet their compatriots, Prof. Daniel Assis Santos and Prof. Rafael Bastos, from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais and the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte respectively, who are here as part of another CAPES-COFECUB collaboration managed by Prof. Florent Morio.
Many thanks to Assoc. Prof. Isabelle Ourliac-Garnier for organising such an inspiring meeting with the three networks (PIs, PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, biologists and chemists). Bringing different networks together adds value to scientific exchanges, builds new collaborations and allows us to move forward.

Congrès international MedChem GP2A organisé par IICiMedLe congrès qui s'est déroulé début juin à la Faculté de Pharmacie a été un réel succès avec près de 170 participants :

En plus des 8 conférences principales, nous avons reçu 102 résumés d'abstracts pour établir le programme suivant :
- 17 communications orales (15 minutes)
- 8 Prix Paul Ehrlich (15 minutes)
- 77 posters : 52 présentations de posters (3 sessions) et 25 communications flash (3 minutes).
17 pays étaient représentés à la conférence, avec 51 participants à l'atelier pré-conférence (Artificial Intelligence in Drug Discovery : A New Era of Molecular Design) par le Dr. Dylan SERILLON (PharmD, PhD) WhiteLab Genomics, un de nos anciens étudiants.

She joins us as a postdoctoral researcher for 10 months from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (team of Prof. Rafael Bastos), and is the very first visiting researcher from our four-year CAPES-COFECUB program — a collaboration with Prof. Daniel Assis Santos (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil 🇧🇷).

CaPF (Consortium against Parasites and Fungi) conference in Lille, May 14-15, 2025.Last week, IICiMed Lab had the great pleasure of attending the CaPF (Consortium against Parasites and Fungi) conference in Lille.
Many thanks to Faustine Dubar and the local organisers for arranging such a successful event, which brought together biologists, chemists and hospital researchers to discuss human and veterinary health.
We were delighted to present some of the lab's results: 'Candida auris: an emerging multidrug-resistant fungal pathogen' (Prof. Patrice Le Pape) and 'Targeting casein kinase 1 as a novel strategy for the design of anti-infective agents' (Prof. Pascal Marchand).
We look forward to meeting our scientific community again in Strasbourg next year. Prof. Elisabeth Davioud-Charvet-Charvet will be welcoming us.

A warm Scottish welcome at the University of Dundee!It was a pleasure to reconnect with Dr. Manu De Rycker at the Drug Discovery Unit, University of Dundee, School of Life Sciences - What incredible facilities! I also had the opportunity to discuss the exciting future directions of the Leishmania casein kinase 1 project, ANR (Agence nationale de la recherche) TEXLEISH, with Prof. Gopal Sapkota from MRC PPU.
A special thank you to Dr. Najma Rachidi from the Institut Pasteur for this valuable collaboration and the opportunity to come and to exchange ideas on our joint projects dedicated to combating neglected tropical diseases.
